Irish Club Sponsored Walk

Sunday 6th May

Meeting Place 11h00 on Sunday 6th May in the small Park Pescatore (near the new Lift to Pfaffenthal)

What to expect:

The walk is about 2 hours and suitable for everone.

We will be taking e the new Lift down to Pfaffenthal and walking around the UNESCO WORLD HERRITAGE SITE Pfaffenthal. This picturesque, historical and artisanal neighborhood of Pfaffenthal still has remnants of its Roman past – the Roman road from Reims to Trier crossing the Alzette river.

Then we will take the new funicular up to Kirchberg, where we will walk around the cultural district with the concert Hall Grande Duchesse Joséphine Charlotte ou Philharmonie, beautiful architectural building from Christian de Portzamparc, the Mudam – Museum of Modern Art Grand Duc Jean – designed by Pei on the old Fort Thungen and the Fortress Museum.

After this we will pop on the new tram up to the Coque Sports Centre to walk through the Kirchberg Park.

At the end of the park we will get back on the Tram. Here you have a choice of joining us for a lunch at the JFK or continuing on to the last station where you can cross the red bridge to the glacis.

This is a sponsored walk and this year we are raising funds for the Blue Teapot Company www.blueteapot.ie in Galway which puts on dramatic productions including people with intellectual disabilities. All funds raised will go to this charity and there is no minimum donation.
