The Irish Club of Luxembourg was set up as a non-profit making organisation in 1985 by a small but enthusiastic group of Irish expatriates living in Luxembourg. At that time there was no focal point for the Irish Community in Luxembourg, but since then the Club has gone from strength to strength and today comprises over 150 members of all ages, professional backgrounds and of various nationalities.
The Irish Club organises a host of social events throughout the year to cater for all tastes, from Kiddies' Skating, to a major Golf Tournament which has become one of Luxembourg's biggest golfing events of the year! Our annual Christmas Dinner Party and of course the Saint Patrick's Day Party have become landmark events in Luxembourg's social calendar and take place in some of the city's best hotels. Other major events include an annual Sponsored Walk through the rolling Luxembourg countryside, a hilarious Car Treasure Hunt, a sizzling Summer BBQ, and if that's not enough, a Weekend Ski Trip to Switzerland [www.hoteloberland.ch] that is always booked up several months in advance!
It has always been one of the Club's most important aims to give generously to charity and over the years we have helped charities not only in Luxembourg (Special Olympics Luxembourg Team www.specialolympics.ie) but also in Ireland (Our Lady's Children for Sick Children www.olhsc.ie), Mongolia (The Christine Noble Foundation) and Peru.
But the Irish Club is only as good as the members who support it. We encourage everyone visiting this website to support the Club in any way they can, by attending events, giving feedback, suggesting new idea for events, by encouraging others to join in the fun and, who knows, to even join the Committee!
